Tea tree oil is the most popular essential oil when it comes to treating different everyday skin problems. Unlike other different oils, tea tree oil should not be consumed orally.

Its topical application has got so many benefits that it can treat issues like eczema, wounds, head lice, athlete’s foot effectively. Those remedies which call for an oral consumption of this oil recommend doing so after diluting it with water or some other liquid.

1. Treats Nail Fungus

Nail fungus can be unsightly and problematic as well. but you can always treat it with the awesome tea tree oil. You can either apply a few drops of it mixed with some water on the nail, or you can melt a tablespoon of coconut oil and add in 5 drops of the essential oil in it mix and apply on your nail once in the morning and before going to bed.

Your mouth is home to a lot of bacteria. When the bacteria increase in number and normal brushing and flossing cannot fight them, you get a bad breath.

Take a cup of water and add a drop of the tea tree oil in it. Take some water and swish the water around in your mouth. Spit and repeat. Doing this remedy once a day will help in not just getting rid of the bad breath but also of the bacteria present in the mouth as well.

3. Can be Used as a Deodorant

What can put off anyone apart from a bad breath? Someone who stinks! Summers are the time when you have to buy a deodorant to make you smell good all the time, especially when you work under the sun or even in the kitchen. Store bought deodorants can be harmful for you as they are loaded with chemicals which can harm your skin. Simply mix a few drops of tea tree oil in a cup of water and store in a cool dark place. Take an empty deodorant bottle, open it up and wash it thoroughly inside out. You can either pour the DIY deodorant into it or you can simply dip the roller in the jar and apply it on the underarm area. Make sure to wash the roller before sipping it again into the prepared mixture.

4. Gets Rid of Garbage Smell

No smell is more unbearable than that of a diaper pail and a trash can. Mix half teaspoon of tea tree oil with a cup of baking soda. Line the bins with a new garbage bag and sprinkle the mixture into it. It will prevent the bacteria from accumulating in the dust bin and you will be saved from the stink.

5. Relieves Muscular Pain

Muscular pains are simply irritating. No matter how many pain killers your pop in, they somehow return back after a few hours. The best way of getting rid of them is to soak in a bath of Epsom salt and, yes, tea tree oil. Take some olive oil and dilute 10 drops of tea tree oil in it. Fill your tub half way through with water and ad in a cup of Epsom salt followed by the tea tree oil mixture. Swirl them to mix with your hand and fill up the remaining tub. Get into the tub, relax and let the magic work!

Sore throat is caused because of the inflammation of tissues. Tea tree oil not only does reduce the inflammation but it also stops the bacteria from growing in the first place. Simply take a glass of water and add some salt and a drop of tea tree oil in it. Gargle with the water 2 times a day.

 

7. Makes an Awesome Hand Sanitizer

Tea tree oil makes an awesome hand sanitizer when combined with some other ingredients. This sanitizer is all natural and is totally free from chemicals or harmful elements. For making the sanitizer you need 25 drops of tea tree oil, 9 drops each of lavender and clove oil, 1 tablespoon of witch hazel and 8 ounces of aloe vera gel. Mix together all the ingredients in a small bowl and pour them into a small container. Store in a cool and dark place. You can also reduce the quantity of the ingredients as this hand sanitizer does not have a long shelf life.

8. Fights Sinus

When you get a sinus infection, your mucous membranes get blocked and even breathing can become difficult. Although, many people recommend to take steam for getting rid of this infection, what is more effective is taking steam by adding 5 to 6 drops of tea tree oil in it. This essential oil is a bacteria fighting element, thus it soothes the mucous membrane and leaves you healthy.

9. Treats Small Cuts and Wounds

Tea tree oil cleanses off the bacteria from your wounds and cuts and leaves them disinfected thus speeding up the healing process. For applying the oil, first wash and clean the area with soap and water. Take a teaspoon of coconut oil and mix a drop of the tea tree oil in it. Apply it on the wound and leave it there. You can repeat this remedy two to three times a day.

10. Drive Out Mildew

Mildew is prone to growing on warm and even the slightly of damp surfaces. It is not just unsightly to look at but it also gives a really bad stench. Tea tree oil can get rid of it effectively. Take a spray bottle and pour in a cup of water and 10 drops of tea tree oil in it. Spray the mixture on the mildew and wipe it off with a cloth after a few minutes. Repeat until you get rid of all the mildew formed in any place.

11. Expels Pests

Pests are naturally averted to the smell of the tea tree oil. Spray a mixture of a cup of water and 20 drops of the oil on the areas raided by the pests to ward them away.

12. Reduces Itching

The itching which a bug bite can cause is unbelievable. So, if you are constantly itching the bug bite and nothing seems to be working, then you need to take out your bottle of the tea tree oil. Dilute some of it in coconut oil and apply on the itchy area two to three times a day.

While tea tree oil can not cure psoriasis, it can definitely reduce the inflammation related to it. Take two tablespoons of melted coconut oil and mix 10 drops of tea tree oil in it. Apply the mixture on the psoriasis affected area and leave it there until it dries off completely. Repeat this remedy three times a day. Tea tree oil have a lot of benefits for skin.

14. Is a Wonderful Mouthwash

Make your own mouthwash by mixing together 2 drops of tea tree oil, 1 drop of peppermint oil in 1 cup of water.

Swish the mixture in your mouth, gargle your throat and spit it out.

15. Cleans the Washing Machine

If your washing machine needs to be cleaned thoroughly, then tea tree oil can do the trick. Add 10 to 12 drops of the tea tree oil into your machine’s tub. Run it on a hot cycle for a while. Your machine will not only be cleaned but will be full of fresh and pleasant smell as well.

16. Refresh the Dryer’s Load

If you forgot to take out your dryer’s load in time from the machine and it is reeking of mildew, then bring tea tree oil to the rescue. Take a clean t shirt and pour many drops of the tea tree oil on it. Cut the shirt into 4 or 5 equal pieces and throw them into the dryer. Run the dryer and your clothes will come out super clean.

17. Freshens You Up

If you are feeling down and tried on a particular day, then you can freshen yourself up with tea tree oil. Mix 15 drops of oil in 2 tablespoons of olive or coconut oil and pour in a tub halfway filled with water. Mix with your hands and fill the remaining tub as well.

18. Wards Off Mildew in the Garden

Tea tree oil not just eliminated mildew from the home but from the garden as well. you just have to mix 5 to 10 drops of it with a cup of water and pour it into an empty spray bottle. Spray on the mildew lightly.

Repeat every day but make sure that you do not overspray on them as the plants can get affected as well.

19. Eliminates Foot Odor

When your feet smell like anything and nothing seems to work, then tea tree oil can do the job. Take a few cups of water and bring them to a boil. Add in few sprigs of fresh rosemary in the water and let it seep for 10 minutes. In a bowl mix together 15 drops of tea tree oil with 3 tablespoons of jojoba or olive oil. Pour the tea tree oil in the rosemary water. Mix and pour the water into a small tub. Soak your feet in it for 15 to 20 minutes to get rid of the smell.

20. Releases a Splinter

You can release a splinter with tea tree oil. Take a teaspoon of any neutral oil and mix 3 drops of tea tree oil in it. Take some warm water and pour the oil in it as well as 2 tablespoons of Epsom salt. Soak the area with the splinter in the water for 10 minutes. Take out the splinter carefully. Tea tree oil also benefits for acne scars.

21. Toothbrush Cleaner

Mix together a cup of water and 10 drops of tea tree oil. Put your toothbrush in it for 10 minutes, once a week.
